Off-Kai 3.0 took place on 30 May 2026.

The Gathering

After a long wait, Off-Kai 3.0 finally took place on 30 May 2026. We gathered at Izakaya Clifton in Bristol, and we were delighted to welcome Akiko, who joined us all the way from Ireland. Thank you so much to everyone who travelled to make the event possible. In hindsight, the venue was not the most convenient for many of those coming from afar, so I will choose more carefully next time.

A Lovely Surprise

There was an unexpected bonus to the afternoon: one of the waitresses serving us turned out to be a Japanese learner. She had started studying Japanese in 2010 and now holds a JLPT N2 certificate. We were able to chat with her in Japanese, which made the evening even more memorable.

One Important Apology

I must confess one important thing: I completely forgot to take photos of us. I am terribly sorry—ごめんなさい！

The 二次会

After that, we carried on to the 二次会, our second stop of the afternoon, and played しりとり, the Japanese word game. Oliver-san deserves a special mention for doing so well, especially considering that he had only started learning Japanese two months ago.

Looking Ahead

I am already looking forward to seeing everyone again at オフ会4.0 next year!
